UI/UX Designer
2022
Monster makes premium audio products. My job was to design a mobile app that matched the quality of the hardware, an experience that felt like it belonged in the same world as the headphones.
I started by mapping out the user flow before any screens were designed. Getting the architecture right meant every step of the experience felt logical and connected.
The design needed to work for both hardcore audiophiles and casual listeners, a range that's tricky to nail. I focused on keeping the experience bold but intuitive, from onboarding through to the core features.
Good audio hardware has a tactile quality to it. I wanted the app interactions to carry some of that, responsive, satisfying, nothing that gets in the way.
Beyond browsing, I built in personalized recommendations and interactive product showcases, giving users a reason to spend time in the app, not just pass through it.
Architecture first
Starting with architecture paid off, the app flows naturally because the structure was sorted before the visuals.
The details matter
The small interaction details mattered. With a brand like Monster, the polish is part of the product.
Visual language
The visual language was designed to reflect sound, not literally, but in energy and feel.

The app ended up feeling like an extension of the Monster brand, which was the whole goal. A product that premium audio fans would actually want to use.
